In eine Misosuppe kann fast alles hinein You can put almost anything in miso soup
There are no strict rules about what goes into miso soup.
The flavour changes depending on what you add, but the umami from vegetables, mushrooms and other ingredients blends beautifully with miso.
Tofu, wakame seaweed and aburaage (fried tofu) are classics, but the miso soup that regularly appears on the table differs from household to household. Using whatever vegetables are left in the fridge is perfectly normal.
There are many kinds of miso, too. They range from pale to dark, and each has its own balance of sweetness, saltiness and aroma. Even with exactly the same ingredients, changing the miso can change the character of the soup.
Try a few different kinds and find the miso you like best.
