Rolle einfach ein, was dir schmeckt. Maki sushi is easier than it looks, and you do not need special fillings. Avocado, cucumber, carrot, tuna or surimi from your normal supermarket all work well. Währenddessen Sushi-Essig und Füllungen vorbereitenWhile the rice cooks, prepare the sushi vinegar and fillings
Mix 4 tbsp (60 ml) apple cider vinegar, 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp salt well. The sugar does not need to dissolve completely. If your supermarket sells ready-made seasoned sushi vinegar or sushi seasoning, use that instead and skip this mixture. Plain rice vinegar is not the same: it still needs sugar and salt.
Cut the avocado, cucumber and carrot into long pieces that are easy to roll. Wrap the carrot in cling film and microwave until softened. Drain canned tuna very well, removing as much oil or water as possible, and mix it with mayonnaise. Surimi can be used as-is.
Add the vinegar mixture to the warm rice and mix gently with a rice paddle. Once it is evenly mixed through, let the rice cool slightly before rolling.
-
Reis verteilenSpread the rice
Place one sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat with the smooth, shiny side facing down. Spread the rice evenly over the nori with a rice paddle, leaving about 2 cm uncovered at both the top and bottom edges. If you adjust the rice with your fingers, wet them lightly with water so it does not stick.
-
Füllungen auflegenAdd the fillings
Arrange the fillings around the middle of the rice, leaving a little more space toward the top. This makes the roll easier to close. Do not overfill it, especially the first time.

RollenRoll
Lightly hold the fillings in place with your fingers and lift the near edge of the nori with the bamboo mat. Fold it over the fillings, leaving roughly the upper third unrolled, and bring the near edge down onto the rice just beyond the fillings. Continue rolling to the end and gently shape the roll with the mat. The first movement is more like folding the nori over the fillings than rolling the whole sheet at once.
The short video shows the first folding movement. Dann in Stücke schneiden. Let the roll rest for a few minutes so the nori softens slightly and the roll holds together, then slice into easy-to-eat pieces.
